Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity setting License:
RN License required Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, PALS
certifications required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: Candidates
without these skills will not be considered for the role. Minimum 5
years of recent Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity
setting. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (TNCC
preferred). Strong triage and critical thinking skills. Trauma and
cardiac alert experience, including care of STEMI, stroke, and
sepsis patients. Description: The unit has 22 beds and is staffed
with 55 personnel. The day shift includes a charge nurse, 5 RNs, 1
AM ER Tech, 1 12-12 ER Tech, 10-10 RN, 12-12 RN, and 3-3 RN. The
night shift includes a charge nurse, 6 RNs, 1 PM Tech, 1 12-12 ER
Tech, 10-10 RN, 12-12 RN, and 3-3 RN. Patient ratios are 4:1. The
EMR system used on the unit is Meditech. Typical procedures
performed in the unit include IV insertion, medication
administration, and EKGs. Moderate sedation is provided for
procedures such as reductions or cardioversion. Staff assist with
intubation, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and code response.
Nurses care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral
health patients. Transport preparation and coordination for higher
levels of care are essential. Triage assessment and prioritization
are based on ESI guidelines. Nurses must adhere to isolation and
infection control protocols. Documentation and reassessment are
required in fast-paced environments. The ideal candidate is
team-oriented, with a strong work ethic and accountability.
