Job Description:

Staff Physician - MD / DO (Pharr,TX) Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas is now hiring a Staff Physician!You will provide comprehensive ambulatory medical care to patients and their families, delivers medical services to adults (ages 18 and over) with a wide variety of illnesses that can occur in any of the body systems.Education requirementsGraduate of an accredited medical school or university with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Documentation of completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine from an accredited residency program. Current and unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas; Internal Medicine Physician or Family Medicine Physician must be Board certified or Board eligible for certification with at least two (2) years post residency (not including fellowship training) clinical experience in internal or family medicine.QualificationsMust possess a valid driver's license to perform job duties that involve driving GSA vehicles both on and off the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas Reservation and maintain insurability to operate a GSA vehicle. BLS required DEA certificate required Current CPR certification Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.ResponsibilitiesProvides comprehensive ambulatory medical care to patients and their families, delivers medical services to adults (ages 18 and over) with a wide variety of illnesses that can occur in any of the body systems. Serves as primary care provider for patients managing chronic diseases, diagnosis and treating illness and injury, preventive medicine and patient education. Collaborates with Behavioral Health on mental health and substance abuse problems, participates with the Diabetes Program in prevention and diabetes management of the patient.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - An individual must be able to successfully perform each of the essential functions of this position listed below with or without reasonable accommodation. Provides quality, compassionate, and culturally sensitive health care services to Kickapoo Tribal Members, other eligible Tribal Members and KTTT employees. Provides a full range of outpatient services, including examination, assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Prepare, provide and deliver patient care plans to all patients. Proactively works with other health care professionals within and outside the medical department for coordination of care, including but not limited to nursing staff, community, health, dietary and nutritional services, dental clinic, behavioral health, counselors, pharmacy and other staff. Conducts complete physical examinations. Examines patients for signs and symptoms of acquired or congenital disorders to determine nature and extent of injury or disorder. Analyzes records, reports, test results or examination information to diagnose medical condition(s) of the patient. Prescribes or administers medication and/or therapy as indicated by diagnosis. Legibly documents all patient visits in a timely manner, as per policy. Maintains records in compliance with professional, federal, other applicable guidelines; ensures compliance with all accrediting agencies and with KCHC policies and procedures. Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients. Monitors patients' conditions and progress and reevaluates treatments as necessary. Advises patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. Makes appropriate and timely referrals to specialty care or higher level(s) of care when warranted, and services are not available at the Kickapoo Community Health Center. Follows up with patient(s) on treatment and progress when appropriate. Immunizes patients to protect them from preventable diseases. May serve on committees and participate, addressing quality patient care. Participates in appropriate in-service education programs for health professionals at the community health center. Maintains licensure and appropriate certifications. The physician must maintain confidentiality, security and integrity of patient date and information according to privacy regulations, including HIPPA. The physician assures age and culturally appropriate, holistic patient care based on mission, standards and policies; adheres to standards of relevant regulatory agencies. Assists clinic administration in developing and implementing programs relevant to providing health care for Native Americans served by the clinic. Assists with the training and education of patients and clinic employees. Provides continuity of care by directing patients to other facilities when his/her needs exceed the scope of services available at this facility. Participates in quality improvement activities improving the quality of patient care. Participates in clinical consultations and provides medical expertise and guidance as appropriate, Must be available for after-hours medical consultation when needed.SkillsEnglish and Spanish, and communicate effectively with others.
